Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking a moment to sit with me.
The Restoring the Village Project was created from a simple belief: children thrive when families are supported, communities are connected, and wisdom is shared.
Each letter is an invitation to pause, reflect, and rediscover the lessons hidden within everyday life.
This month’s lesson came from an unexpected teacher: ants.
I know that sounds strange, but stay with me.
A few weeks ago, I found myself dealing with an ant infestation. Like most people, my first reaction was frustration. They were everywhere.
But as I watched them, I noticed something.
No ant was trying to carry the colony alone.
Each one had a role.
Some searched.
Some carried.
Some protected.
Some followed.
Individually, they seemed small.
Collectively, they were powerful.
And it made me wonder:

When did we begin believing that we were supposed to do life alone?
This week, I watched a father show up for his daughter.
I watched a sister choose help.
I watched a husband offer wisdom.
I watched a community fill a gap.
I watched grace be extended.
And through it all, I realized something:
The opposite of struggle is not strength.
The opposite of struggle is support.
Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that asking for help was weakness.
That needing others meant failure.
That independence was the ultimate goal.
But healthy families aren’t built in isolation.
Healthy communities aren’t built in isolation.
Healthy children aren’t built in isolation.
We grow through connection.
We grow through guidance.
We grow through relationship.
The village was never meant to disappear.
It was meant to be stewarded.
A mother sharing wisdom with a daughter.
A father showing up when it matters.
A mentor offering encouragement.
A teacher seeing potential.
A neighbor lending a hand.
A community carrying what one person cannot carry alone.

Not as crutches.
Not as rescuers.
But as guides.
Cultivators.
People helping one another grow.
As I reflected on everything that happened this week, I realized that what many of us are longing for isn’t perfection.
It’s belonging.
It’s connection.
It’s knowing that when life gets heavy, we don’t have to carry it alone.
That realization gave birth to a bigger vision:
The Restoring the Village Project
A vision dedicated to cultivating healthy families, strong communities, and future generations.
Because every child deserves guidance.
Every parent deserves support.
Every family deserves community.
And no one was designed to grow alone.
